COME3T - Deliverable D01.02: Does the colonisation of offshore renewable energy farms facilitate the introduction and spread of non-indigenous species?

In response to the issues identified by the sector and the questions raised by citizens concerning the environmental integration of marine renewable energies in France, the COME3T approach aims to provide elements of expertise, synthesis and recommendations based on a national network of experts. In this bulletin, 6 experts contributed to defining the different phenomena that could facilitate the spread of non-indigenous species following the development of offshore wind farms. Several recommendations have been issued to limit the impact on marine ecosystems of the relay effect, ballast water release and the storage of offshore infrastructure in ports.

Statement

This deliverable is part of phase 1 of the COME3T project that took place between 2018 and 2019.

COME3T (Phase 1) is coordinated by France Energies Marines, which acts as an interface between a steering committee, which prioritises the issues to be addressed, and the expert committees, which contribute to scientific knowledge. A steering committee collectively selects the scientific topics to be addressed and ensures the independence and neutrality of the expert committees. The expert committees bring together scientists selected for their expertise and knowledge of the subject. For each new topic, didactic bulletins richly illustrated summarises the scientific information collected.

Partners of the project (Phase 1): FEM, Région Bretagne, Région Normandie, Région SUD, Région Pays de la Loire, RTE, EDF-EN, ENGIE Green, Ifremer, Université de Bretagne Occidentale, Centrale Nantes, SINAY

Funding (Phase 1): Région Bretagne, Région Normandie, Région SUD, Région Pays de la Loire, RTE, EDF-EN, ENGIE Green
